1. CALL TO ORDER/ATTENDANCE

6. BOS ADVOCACY LEADS: SUSAN GARCIA FRANZ AND CONNIE RAETHER- UPDATES; No news
7. BOS UPDATE ON HUD’S NOFO STATUS- ADAM HURST; Notice of funding opportunity (NOFO). COC competition, large funding pool that disburses money throughout the country to people experiencing homelessness. Many changes made to this program. Federal litigation has started through the DOJ saying NOFO rules were unlawful. Learned on Aug. 7th that federal court ruled NOFO rules unlawful and that the process would be halted. As of today, not sure what is happening. New applications are not being processed, expect to hear more about what is going on. Reach out to Adam if you have questions.
8. COMMITTEE UPDATES
a. AFFORDABLE HOUSING- SUSAN GARCIA FRANZ; Looking for more Housing Champions. Will be presenting with faith communities at Balance of State. Continuing with our housing presentations.
b. COORDINATION AND ENGAGEMENT- LIZ CROLEY
i. PRESENT NEW ACCESS POINT “REQUIREMENTS”/SYSTEM; on the CE slide
c. INCREASE IN EMPLOYMENT INCOME- JENNIE MOORE; no report
d. BFCHA(Build Fox Cities Housing Alliance): KRISTINE GIORNALISTA; preparing for September’s strategic planning process. Community education team is looking at how we can educate elected and appointed officials through a series of fact sheets. Had a conversation with 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, they are doing a housing academy that they may bring to the Fox Cities in 2027. Website is buildfoxcities.org.
9. DISCUSSING NEXT STEPS OF ANNUAL DIGNITY & OPEN DOORS: A FRESH START EVENT
a. PUSHING OFF TO NEXT YEAR DUE TO LACK OF STEPPING UP AND STORM RESOURCE SUPPORTS

a. EVENTS COMING UP/ INFO SLIDE; Latinofest Sept. 19
b. Poverty simulation Sept. 24th, more details to come
c. PoP has signed an MOU with local landlords who have designated several apartments to PoP participants. Looking for more landlords.
d. Realtors association has some funding available for victims of storms; make sure all required documentation is attached with the forms.
e. STORM DISCUSSION; Casa Hispana received a grant to help with storm relief and they are working with MCI; hoping to collaborate with any orgs or businesses to help those who have lost homes and are without insurance. Wondering if there is any group working to coordinate these efforts? United Way/Community Foundation is collecting funds and working with city officials to figure out how to get the funds to those in need. Is there a list of those who have reached out for help? (lists can’t be shared unless there are MOUs in place.) Suggestion to coordinate with Leaven. 211 information is shared with emergency management of county and city officials who are contacting those in need. Suggestion to contact emergency management staff in your county. Salvation Army has a list of addresses from 211 and disaster services. Schools are required to provide support to homeless students and are working to find out if there are students affected by the storms; there are forms on the AASD and Menasha school websites that families can fill out if they are in need of assistance.

g. From Jon: the single biggest asset that AANW FVAA has to help with is through our members and their rental properties. We have been actively engaged with visiting the MARC at both locations, the Town Hall that was held, the common council meeting that took place this week, etc, as well as invited many organizations to our monthly meetings that took place this past week to allow for engagement. There are other things we are working on as well. Including our October Meetings that will be a Community Engagement theme, like we did last year as well.

Stan has been a great contact to connect the various groups and to send out info and coordination for Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
NEXT MEETING WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT CHANGES TO MEDICAID AND FOOD BENEFITS
